The Clark Family Legacy of Love
We are honored that the Clark Family donated new and gently used items for a full housing set up for a refugee family. The donation was made in loving memory of their son Clay, who loved children and dedicated his life to them as a gymnastics instructor.
Ways To Give
Ways To Give: St. Vincent Catholic Charities (STVCC) is a local, charitable, 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to human services in the mid-Michigan area. Since 1948 STVCC has partnered with people living in crisis, of all beliefs, to help them find safety so they can thrive. The staff of STVCC work hard to ensure good stewardship of the donations provided. When you support STVCC you are directly prevailing over life transforming services given to those in need.
Donations are essential to providing quality assistance to help children, families and adults work toward self sufficiency. Providing help is more than getting a home ready for a homeless family; it’s greater than giving a glass of milk and a meal to a child in foster care; it’s deeper than welcoming a refugee family at the Lansing Airport.
Through financial donations raised from this community, help means partnering with those we serve, teaching them the skill sets and providing the tools necessary for them to reach self sufficiency. Help that lasts means assisting a homeless mother and father in finding a job and teaching them financial skills that will maintain their new home; finding a safe and loving home for a child with no mom and dad; creating classes to teach refugees the language skills needed to begin a new life. With your partnership, it is possible for STVCC to provide help that counts and create hope that lasts.

Join the Guardian Society.
Please know all gifts are critical to forwarding St. Vincent Catholic Charities’ mission and ministry. Becoming a Guardian Society member supports both the current services and the future vision to be more efficient and effective in serving children and families. TO GIVE NOW...Click Here
We all have kids in your lives, children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friend’s children, who we know can go home and put their arms around adults that love them and keep them safe.
We all have friends who we couldn’t imagine losing to war or being permanently separated from because they were forced to flee due to their faith, ethnicity, profession or gender.
We all have loved ones who we know can go to a home where they can eat a warm meal and sleep in a warm bed, safe from the streets.
As a Guardian Society Member you are becoming a friend to children and families who often do not have a strong and supportive network of friends and family. You are living the teachings of Jesus Christ, to protect the innocent, welcome the stranger, shelter the homeless and to love one another as He loves us.
There are three levels of five year pledges within the Guardian Society; Faith, Hope and Charity. To learn more, please get in touch with Cindy Herfindahl, Director of Development at (517) 323.4734 ext. 1201 or e-mail.

Planned Giving & Annuities
(517) 323-4734 ext. 1201 or e-mail.
Planned Giving and Annuities: Leave a Legacy of Hope. Have you considered the benefits of obtaining a Charitable Gift Annuity with St. Vincent Catholic Charities’ Endowment Fund?
Here are five points to consider:
- Attractive Rates
- Tax Free Payments.
- A guaranteed Income Tax Deduction.
- Fixed, Regular Payments.
- Personal Satisfaction.
Attractive Rates and Tax Free Payments.
A guaranteed return often greater than money market rates and part of each annuity payment is tax-free.
A Guaranteed Income Tax Deduction.
Because a Charitable Gift Annuity is partly a gift and partly an investment in an annuity contract, the donor who itemizes is entitled to an income tax deduction for the gift proportion of his/her annuity amount.
Fixed, Regular Payments.
It’s nice to be able to count on a specific amount of payment. You have assurance that your check will be in the mail, direct deposited, every payment date for the rest of your life.
Attractive Rates and Tax Free Payments.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of a St. Vincent Catholic Charities’ gift annuity is the personal fulfillment you receive by helping the St. Vincent Catholic Charities Endowment Fund grow and supporting good stewardship in the agency. People with highly appreciated stock can also benefit from a gift annuity. They particularly like the partial bypass of capital gains they receive.
You owe it to yourself to find out more about Charitable Gift Annuities. To obtain a personalized illustration, please contact Cindy Herfindahl at (517) 323-4734, extension 1201 or e-mail.

Give the Gift of Stock
(517) 323-4734 ext. 1201 or e-mail.Give the Gift of Stock: Many donors review their stock portfolio periodically to make gifts, selecting appreciated stocks (held for over one year) which have increased in value the most. These individuals give stock instead of cash because they have discovered the stewardship, value, and enjoyment of maximizing their giving power.
- Benefits of Donating Stock.
- How to Donate Stock.
A gift of stock may be donated at its current full fair market value. This means the donor receives a charitable income tax deduction credit based upon the stock’s current full fair market value, not the purchase price. The donor bypasses paying the capital gains tax due and maximizes their gift. In addition, the stock donor may deduct up to 30% of their adjusted gross income (AGI) in the year of the gift, with a five-year carry over for any unused portion of the deduction.
For example, you have a stock which you purchased at $15.35 a share, it is now valued at 48.50 a share; the $33.14 gain per share on this stock would be subject to federal capital gains taxation if you sold it.
How to Donate Stock.
To receive a charitable income tax deduction the gift of stock must be transferred directly to a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Do not sell it!
You can do this for St. Vincent Catholic Charities by contacting Cindy Herfindahl at 517-323-4734 ext. 1201 or e-mail. We will instruct you or your broker on the transfer.

Plan a Third Party Event
(517) 323-4734 ext. 1205 or e-mail
Plan a Third Party Event: A fun and creative way to support the services of STVCC is through coordinating an event to raise funds to support those we serve. If you are interested in hosting a third party event or for more information contact Rhonda Abood, Outreach and Events Coordinator at (517) 323-4734 ext. 1205. Here are some ideas for a third party event, or think of something new.
- Host a Dinner Party. Some donors host a dinner party and have every attendant bring a donation, for instance, everyone brings a household item for donation.
- Golf Outing. Sports events are popular. Setting up an event can be small and personal, only open to close friends and family or colleagues, or they can be large with planned sponsors, prizes and more.
- Jeans Day at Work. Set it up with your employer to allow your co-workers to wear casual clothing for a day in exchange for a donation. You’re co-workers will thank you.
- Provide a Percent of Proceeds from a Sale. If you own a business, choose an ongoing or one time opportunity for a designated percent of your proceeds to go toward the services of STVCC.
- Coordinate an Auction. There are all kinds of auctions one can host, from fashion to art to sports memorabilia. If you are donating all or a great deal of the proceeds to a non-profit many businesses are more likely to donate items for your auction.
- Put on a 5k run and walk. Give both supporters of STVCC and exercise fans a good reason to enjoy the outdoors by hosting a 5k.
- Neighborhood Yard Sales. Organize your neighborhood to put on a yard sale with a percent of proceeds going to STVCC. You’ll help motivate your neighbors to do that long awaited housecleaning and help those in need at the same time.
- Coordinate an Activity with Your Church. From a bake sale to a presentation during coffee and donuts after mass or a fish fry will help educate the community about our services and raise needs support.

Holiday Giving Program
(517) 323-4734 ext. 1203 or e-mail
Holiday Giving Program: Regardless of the time of year, you can help provide a memorable Christmas for children, families and adults in need served by St. Vincent Catholic Charities. If you have any questions about our Holiday Giving Programs, please contact Thuy Bui, Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator at (517) 323-4734 ext. 1203. Here are some ideas how you can help give during Christmas.
- Host An Angel Giving Tree. Businesses, offices, churches and other organizations are welcome to host An Angel Giving Tree. STVCC will provide you with Angel Gift Tags that have a wish from a child served by STVCC. You may hang the tags on a tree or other object for your patrons, colleagues or parishioners to choose from. Our staff will work closely with you to ensure a smooth process.
- Purchase a Present with an Angel Gift Tag. Many businesses, offices, churches and parishes host An Angel Giving Tree. STVCC provides Angel Gift Tags that list a wish from a child we serve, along with their age and other essential information. After you purchase the gift you may return it to the place where you picked up the Angel Gift Tag or to STVCC. It’s a great way to give back, feel the true spirit of Christmas and great for doing with your own children or family.
- Sell $1.00 Be an Angels at Your Business. Support St. Vincent Catholic Charities by purchasing or selling Angels! Many local businesses will be selling beautiful paper Angels – for St. Vincent Catholic Charities. A donation of $1.00 is being requested for each angel. We are still looking for businesses/organizations to make these angels available to their staff and customers!
- Adopt a Family. What a great way to celebrate Christmas. STVCC will give you a family of children with their wish lists. Most of these children were once homeless or came to Lansing as Refugees and are now starting over with the help of STVCC. Help bring the spirit of Christmas into their hearts by adopting a family of children. It is a lot of fun to collaborate with your colleagues or family and shop together for the family.
- Adopt a Teen. Teenager’s needs such as clothing and shoes tend to be more expensive than younger children. As these young ladies and men are developing into adults they often cannot afford nice clothing and items that other teenagers have. Help a teenager by reaching out and helping their Christmas wishes come true. And just imagine the message that it sends to them when an adult they don’t even know, cares enough to make Christmas special for them.
